Centro Energy Ferrara S.p.A. is an electric power utility formed in 1993 by shareholders E.ON (58%) and Foster Wheeler Italiana (42%).
The thermoelectric power plant is located in the township of Ferrara inside the petrochemical complex. Designed to feed electric power into the national grid, it entered service in 1999.
This is a combined-cycle cogeneration plant of 143 MW, consisting of two gas turbines, two recovery boilers, and one steam turbine. The power produced goes entirely into the Terna 132 kV grid, while the steam, at two levels of pressure (4.5 and 18 bars) is used for the chemical processes of the surrounding companies.
