Trapani

The thermoelectric power plant is located in the countryside of Trapani, near the seacoast, and occupies 9.2 hectares.
With total net power of 169 MW, it produces electrical energy with two open-cycle turbogas units (2x85 MW) fueled by natural gas. The plant has average production of 175 GWh/year (average 2003-2007).
Environmental protection
With no. I-000236, the facility was one of the first industrial sites in Sicily to be EMAS registered. Some major extraordinary maintenance projects were carried out in 2007 to fully replace obsolete components and respond to demands for improved reliability, efficiency and safety conditions.
Since May 1999, the power plant has stopped burning fuel oil, using only natural gas, drawn from the national network at a pressure of 70 bars and then depressurized.
