The internal campaign “Uso Contenuto”

We promote eco-responsible behaviour and reduced consumption in our offices

“Uso Contenuto” is an internal awareness raising campaign aimed at reducing the environmental impact of activities that are not directly connected to production, including waste produced, energy consumption, the management of printing centres, staff mobility and water conservation.

We believe that the environment should be cared for first and foremost by the people. Therefore, E.ON supports the initiative but the employees are real driving force of the program, within each office.

The campaign began in 2009 and spread throughout all of our administrative offices and the offices of our power plant in Fiume Santo. The key improvements are: introducing bins for sorting waste and thus recycling paper and plastic; optimizing settings for air conditioning thermostats; limiting the consumption of running water using flow control devices; reducing paper use by introducing double-sided printing and electronic storage formats.

At the Fiume Santo power plant, we launched a timed air conditioning project involving the programmed shut down of ventilation devices from 18.00 to 6.00, which has enabled us to save 12.7 MWh a month in energy, equal to 152 MWh per year, enough to satisfy the energy needs of approximately 40 houses.

The Milan office instead, has focused on turning off electrical equipment, resulting in a per capita decrease in energy consumption of 15%, with yearly savings of 2,457 kWh; additionally, introducing waste sorting has enabled us to reach 57% in recycled waste.

Because the best source of energy is saved energy.
