How Wind Power creates Clean Energy

Today, we have access to commercially viable and efficient technologies for producing energy from wind power. The latest wind power generating units are essentially comprised of the following main components: foundation, cable connections, tower, gondola (housing the generator), transmission system, braking and control system and the rotors with adjustable blade pitch.

1. The wind presses against the rotor blades and causes the rotor assembly to rotate.
2. The rotor blades transfer their energy to the hub, and set the driveshaft inside the rotor assembly in rotation.
3. The hub is fitted with a transmission that adjusts the rotor speed to the requirements of...
4. …the generator that converts the rotational energy into electrical power by means of magnetic fields.
5. The electric power produced by the generator is passed to a transformer that converts the low voltage generated to a higher voltage suitable for feeding into the grid.
