As one of the leading energy companies of the world and the fourth largest player in the Italian electricity industry, we feel it is our responsibility to think ahead on how to tackle the energy challenges of the future. Some examples:

• Thanks to our presence in 30 markets, we can ensure that in Italy we always use the best technology available. This is the case with renewable energy and high-efficiency power plants, as well as with future clean-carbon technologies.
• Over 50% of Italy’s energy is produced by gas, which can make the energy system very sensitive to fluctuations in the price of oil, as well as to obstacles when gas imports are transported over long distances. E.ON intends to broaden its generation mix.
• Today, 14% of our generation capacity is already based on clean and renewable energy. We intend to increase this percentage.
