We put out to Sea to get Clean Energy

We are very active in offshore wind energy, and we recognize its enormous potential for the future. Wind speeds at sea are far higher than on land. Nevertheless, generating power from wind out at sea is a real technical challenge, both during the construction and operational phases of projects. E.ON aims to become a world leader in this area, and we are currently developing a portfolio of projects in UK, Scandinavian and German waters. In the short term, we are focused on near-shore shallow water projects in the UK and Denmark, to build our experience and expertise. In addition, the pilot Alpha Ventus project in the deep water German North Sea allows us to build our knowledge of more challenging projects.

Wind Farms in the UK

We are also developing "London Array" along the English coast in cooperation with DONG Energy and Masdar. It is set to become the largest wind farm in the world and with a total capacity  of over 1,000 MW the project will certainly be setting new standards within the industry, supplying around 750,000 households with energy and cutting CO2 emissions by about 1.9 million tons per year.
