Picture: Energy 2030 Water Water is one of the world’s cleanest and most efficient energy sources. And water presents an outstanding additional advantage: the extreme efficiency – over 90% – of hydroelectric power plants and their robust engineering ensure the long-term technical and economic viability of such facilities. In addition to these advantages, hydroelectric plants are characterized by a continuous base-load capability, and therefore constantly feed power into our grids.

For us, this is reason enough to concentrate our efforts on promoting the generation of electric power from this source, which we do with success. E.ON is one of the leading generators of hydroelectric power. In Germany, we produce enough energy from water to power almost 3 million households. In Sweden, we supply 30% of the households with electricity generated by hydroelectric power. What about Italy?
